【摘要】:TheprimarypurposeofISO/IEC11179-3istospecifythestructureofaMetadataRegistry(see1.1).ISO/IEC11179-3alsospecifiesbasicattributeswhicharerequiredtodescribemetadataitems,andwhichmaybeusedinsituationswhereacompletemetadataregistryisnotappropriate(e.g.inthespecificationofotherInternationalStandards)(see1.2).1.3identifiesaspectsnotcurrentlyaddressed.1.4providesexamplesofactivitieswhereISO/IEC11179-3maybeapplied.1.1Scope–StructureofaMetadataRegistryAcomprehensiveMetadataRegistrymanagementfunctionrequiresasetofrulesandprocedures.TheserulesandproceduresaresetoutinthefollowingClausesandAnnexesandarecomplementedelsewhereinthisdocumentasfollows:a)thedefinitionsofmetadataobjectsareinClause3.3ofthispartofISO/IEC11179;b)thestructureoftheregistryintheformofaconceptualdatamodelisinClause4ofthispartofISO/IEC11179;AspectsoftheregistryareexpandedoninotherpartsofISO/IEC11179,asfollows:a)theoverallframeworkforthisfamilyofInternationalStandardsisspecifiedinISO/IEC11179-1;b)rulesandguidelinesforclassifyingmetadataareinISO/IEC11179-2;c)rulesandguidelinesfortheformulationofdefinitionsareinISO/IEC11179-4;d)namingandidentifyingprinciplesformetadataareinISO/IEC11179-5;e)rulesandguidelinesforregisteringmetadataareinISO/IEC11179-6.WhilethemodeldiagramsarepresentedinUMLnotation,thispartofISO/IEC11179doesnotassumenorendorseanyspecificsystemenvironment,databasemanagementsystem,databasedesignparadigm,systemdevelopmentmethodology,datadefinitionlanguage,commandlanguage,systeminterface,userinterface,computingplatform,oranytechnologyrequiredforimplementation.ThispartofISO/IEC11179doesnotdirectlyapplytotheactualuseofdataincommunicationsandinformationprocessingsystems.1.2Scope–BasicattributesofmetadataitemsThispartofISO/IEC11179alsospecifiesbasicattributeswhicharerequiredtodescribemetadataitems,andwhichmaybeusedinsituationswhereacompleteMetadataRegistryisnotappropriate(e.g.inthespecificationofotherInternationalStandards).ThesebasicattributesaredescribedinClause5.1.3Scope–AspectsnotcurrentlyaddressedThispartofISO/IEC11179doesnotcurrentlysupportthefollowingrequirements;a)Complexdatastructures,encapsulation,stereotypingandinheritance;b)AbilitytoenforceuniquenessofnameswithinaContext;c)SpecificationofNamingConventionsforaContext;d)Designationsotherthannames(e.g.icons);e)SpecificationofTimeinadditiontoDate;f)Prescribedconceptualdomainsandvaluedomainsfortheattributesinthemetamodel;g)RegistrationofXMLdocumentsorXMLschemas;h)ApplicationProgrammingInterfaces(APIs)andassociatedbindingstoaccessaregistry;i)Multilingualsupport,exceptfornamesanddefinitions;j)Culturaladaptability.ItisanticipatedthatsomeoralloftheserequirementswillbeaddressedinfutureeditionsofthispartofISO/IEC11179,orincompanionstandardsortechnicalreports.1.4AreasofApplicabilityThispartofISO/IEC11179appliestoactivitiesincluding:a)thedefinition,specificationandcontentsofmetadataregistries,includinginterchangingorreferencingamongvariouscollectionsofdataelements;b)thedesignandspecificationofapplication-orienteddatamodels,databasesandmessagetypesfordatainterchange;c)theactualuseofdataincommunicationsandinformationprocessingsystems;d)interchangeorreferenceamongvariouscollectionsofmetadata.
